Living the High (Flying) Life

Fiona at the Concorde controls

Last month, UKinbound held their 3-day annual convention in Bristol. GTO’s Partnership and Product Director Sarah Jeffery attended most of the networking and familiarisation events, but was unfortunately unable to go to the Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner at Aerospace Bristol on the last evening, so I was lucky enough to take her place. It was great fun to meet some of our trade partners and friends in such glamorous surroundings. I enjoyed having a look inside the cabin of the last Concorde to fly, as well as posing as a pilot in Aerospace Bristol’s Concorde cockpit.

The museum also has some interesting Concorde memorabilia, including souvenirs, and this section was kindly kept open for the evening for us. We were then wined and dined under the wings of this much-loved engineering marvel, with the Awards Ceremony following, compered by actor and comedian James Redmond. On behalf of GTO magazine, I was delighted to present the award for Sightseeing Operator of the Year to City Cruises. A well-deserved win!
